Summer '10. This is an Artic Grayling. My dorm was named after this fish! Karr pulled him out of Grebe Lake.

Summer '10. Bear tracks! Saw these on our way back to our car during the Grebe Lake hike. Good thing the parking lot was only a 1/4 mile away! Don't worry, we had our bear spray...

Long, long, long overdue...

This is long overdue. Over the next few posts you'll see pictures from my break back in March - May, this summer at Yellowstone, this past fall break from October to December, and finally.... this winter season in Yellowstone. The photos will be out of order, sorry!

Been a while...

So, it's been a while since I've posted anything new to this. Although an 8 month lapse would suggest otherwise, I have not forgotten! I've just been around a lot of really shitty internet! And there was that whole getting-my-laptop-stolen thing. I've got a different laptop now, and lots of awesome pictures! I won't be updating with pictures until Karr and I get back to TN, which will be sometime in late October. Expect pictures then!

This isn't the best picture, but I just wanted to show off all the tracks... these are from elk. Some hills are covered in tracks.

This is Lava Creek. The ice is so neat! You can kind of see some of the snow that was falling!

Me, happy. Snow. Yay!

Bunsen peak from the bridge near Mammoth.

So lesson learned today? I have the best job in the world. I work in Yellowstone. How did I get so lucky?

More pictures

A dozen or so lovely pronghorn ran in front of me today. This one posed on the hill.

Coyote! It was great, actually. I was driving along and I thought to myself, hrm, "I haven't seen a coyote in a while. It would be nice if I could see one today." And the next curve, there he was! He was trotting on the road and then jumped on this rock and kindly posed for me. Only 15 feet away. So cool.

Awesome mountains in the distance!

This is a pretty big overview. If you look at the moutain range to the right, it's the same moutains from above!

A little note about mule deer....

So, mule deer in Gardiner, MT.... are like stray dogs. They are everywhere. Look:

Nothing out of the ordinary here, just a typical intersection.. but look closer....

Mule deer! In the lawn! And ravens, in the tree. This house for some reason seems to be the hot spot. There are two deer in this picture, can you find them?

You must admit, they are rather adorable creatures....

Hanging out by the car.
